Tips: Classification of impact sockets
The impact sockets are mainly classified according to metric and imperial measurement systems, type of working end, and material.
1. According to the measurement system
The Metric measurement system uses mm as the unit to refer the sizes of the impact sockets. The imperial measurement system uses inches as the unit, such as 1/2”. This specification of impact socket refers to the size of the opposite side of the end that is connected to the impact wrench.
2. According to the type of working end
According to the working end acting on the screw, it is divided into male 6 points, female 6 points and 12 points, among which 6 point sockets are commonly used in shape of equal hexagons.
3. According to material
The hardest metal material is chromium. The chromium vanadium steel is an alloy steel containing chromium vanadium, so the hardness is relatively high. This kind of high hardness material can improve the wear resistance of the sockets, and enhance the corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of the sockets.
Chromium-molybdenum steel is an alloy steel of chromium and molybdenum. Molybdenum is a very important alloy element, which can improve the hardenability and thermal strength of the product, and has good impact resistance. Therefore, this kind of material is more suitable for manufacturing the impact sockets.
