Tips: What is a C-clamp?
C-clamp, also called G-clamp, is a kind of hardware tool used to hold various shapes of work pieces, modules, etc. The name of the C clamp is derived from the frame of the clamp like the letter C, while the G clamp is derived from the overall structure including the screw structure like the capital letter G.
The C-clamp adopts a threaded screw-in design, which can freely adjust the clamping range. G-clamp features large holding force and convenient to carry, widely used in carpentry and welding, etc. Generally C-clamps or G-clamps is constructed with cast iron or steel, and with fully heat treatment, the clamps have strong durability and added strength.
The operation of C-clamp is relatively simple, just adjusting the screw to control the clamping tightness.
C clamps or G-clampsare available in metal and plastic. There are specifications such as 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 8”, 10”, 12”, etc. Metal C-clamps are richer in sizes and relatively cheap; plastic C-clamps are less in specifications and more expensive. For small woodworking, it is recommended to buy 2 inches and 4 inches G-clamps that should be able to meet the needs.
