Tips: The difference between metric socket and inch socket
First, the outer surface of the socket is marked with the corresponding inner diameter. The difference between metric sockets and inch sockets is the unit of inner diameter. The metric system uses mm as the unit, and the English system uses inch as the unit. The conversion ratio between the two is 25.4:1, that is, 1inch=25.4mm. Metric sockets are based on integers and are generally designed with inner diameters of 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9mm, 14mm, etc. In inch sockets, 1/16inch is generally used as the basic unit. Commonly used inner diameters are 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 1", etc. Because there are two unit standards in automobile industry, preparing two automotive socket sets of different standards at the same time will be more convenient.
