Tips: Ratchet and socket set for car

The socket is a cylindrical tool used to loosen or fasten nuts or bolts, and its inner surface has a hexagonal cross-section. The specifications of the socket are divided into Imperial measurement system (SAE) and metric measurement system. The sizes of SAE sockets are increased by 1/16 inches and 1/32 inches in sequence, while the sizes of Metric sockets are increased by 1 mm. For car owners, a socket is needed when disassembling tires or spark plugs.

When using a socket, remember to choose a socket that fits the nut or bolt completely. If you use a socket larger than the nut or bolt, the socket will easily round the nut or bolt head during rotation.

When loosening the relatively tight wheel bolts, the ratchet handle can be equipped with a suitable extension bar, to increase the leverage and make the bolt easy to loosen. It is important to note that, if you use the ratchet handle with extension bar for tightening the wheel bolts, remember not to use too much force to prevent the rotation torque from exceeding the bearing range of the nut or bolt, otherwise the nut or bolt will be easily damaged.
