Tips: Specification identification of ratchet socket wrench
The ratchet wrench is convenient and quick to use in car maintenance. One of the big advantages is that when the size of the screw or nut is large or the working position of the wrench is narrow, the ratchet wrench can be used. The main parameters of a ratchet wrench are size and torque.
The general specifications are divided according to the square head size. There are several specifications of 6.3/10/12.5/20/25 mm, corresponding to the minimum torque of 48/165/390/1330/2210 Nm. Usually we say 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 inch refers to the side length of the square drive on the ratchet, 1/4-in represents the size of the square drive head is 6.3mm, 3/8-in represents 9.5mm, 1/2-in represents 12.5mm.
The ratchet is selected mainly by the size of the torque value. As for that size, it is enough to be equipped with a suitable socket.
- 1/4” ratchet, especially suitable for small size sockets below 14mm to tighten or loosen fasteners.
- 3/8″ ratchet, suitable for matching with sockets within 24mm.
- 1/2" ratchet, suitable for matching sockets within 24mm.
